Ascent Big Band
Advanced Jazz Band
The Ascent Big Band was formed in 2021 for advanced jazz players to
experience an excellent ensemble.
The group meets weekly during the school year and participates in two or three concerts, including our Holiday Pops Concert at the Pikes Peak Center, a professional-level venue that is an exceptional playing experience for these musicians.
During the season that spans August - May, Ascent also plays gigs alongside professional big bands at venues like Lulu's Downstairs in Manitou Springs. They also participate in the annual Greeley Jazz Festival at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Participants are selected by audition only. If you sing, play alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar , bass guitar, vibes, or drums you can try out for the band! Musicians will be exposed to great jazz literature of varying styles, play in sectionals led by experienced players and educators, learn jazz theory, and give performances. We hope you will join us!
